My Collection from A Collection of Evidence Against the Traditional Wording of Matthew 28:19

by:  Clinton D. Willis The Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics: As to Matthew 28:19, it says: It is the central piece of evidence for the traditional (Trinitarian) view.  If it were undisputed, this would, of course, be decisive, but its trustworthiness is impugned on grounds of textual criticism, literary criticism and historical criticism. The same Encyclopedia further states that: "The obvious explanation of the silence of the New Testament on the triune name, and the use of another (JESUS NAME) formula in Acts and Paul, is that this other formula was the earlier, and  the triune formula is a later addition ."   Edmund Schlink, The Doctrine of Baptism, page 28: "The baptismal command in its Matthew 28:19 form can not be the historical origin of Christian baptism. At the very least, it must be assumed that the text has been transmitted in a form  expanded by the [Catholic] church ."   The Tyndale New Testament Commentaries, I, 275: "It is oft

MODERN TIME DECEPTION

MODERN TIME DECEPTION THE CHARACTERS OF DECEPTION IN THE MODERN TIMES by Carl C. Cortez, DMin, DTh. 1) STRUCTURE of LYING and DECEPTION In a book "Encyclopedia of Deception" under its subtopic “Fiction,” it presented a plot portraying the elementary structure of probable course and plight of logical events that might gradually or drastically changes in man's perception of looking things depending how quick and deep deceptions enter in. How the book presented the sequence of events, for real, can also be observed and can be depicted to a person or persons who might be in reality trapped in this dilemma. The book presented the series of events played on a character as follows: "(a) Characters and events are presented as they traverse a path that seems natural to them; (b) A deceiv

A Brief History of Hebrew Language

Lashon HaKodesh - A Brief History of Hebrew Disclaimer: This page provides a rudimentary overview of the history of the Hebrew script and is by no means intended to replace careful study of paleolinguists and other specialists in the field of ancient writing systems . For scholarly research , please see the Links page. About the Name "Hebrew" Hebrew  (Ivrit:   ) is the name given to one of the world's oldest languages. The name derives from  Eber   ('ever)  ( ), the son of Shem;  'ever  means "region across or beyond" and derives from a root that means to pass over. Shem  is called  , "the father of all of the sons of Eber" (Gen 10:21); and therefore Hebrew descendants are called Semites. In the Scriptures, Hebrew is used as an adjective ( ) to describe Jews who are "from the other side" (i.e., of the  Euphrates River ). Modern Hebrew is called  Ivrit. In Genesis 31:47, Laban and Ja

Who are the “Scribes,” “Sanhedrin,” “Pharisees,” & “Sadducees” in the NT?

One thing has always puzzled me when moving from reading the Old Testament to the New Testament.  There seems to be an abrupt shifting of gears with regard to the political and social settings.  The backdrop of Jesus’ life in the Gospels involves characters like Scribes, Sanhedrin, Pharisees, and Sadducees.  However, these characters are almost completely absent from the landscape of the Old Testament.  So, what has happened?  How did we get all these new faces?  And who are they? From the last events of the Old Testament (as described in Ezra & Nehemiah) and the final prophecy made by Malachi, to the unveiling events of the New Testament, there is about a 400 year gap.  Theologians often call this period “The Four Hundred Silent Years,” because God seemed to be silent, not communicating through his prophets (this era is called the “ Second Temple Era” by the Jews).  But don’t let the absence of a prophet from God make you think that these 400 years were insig
